One principle Swami Vivekananda learned from his Master, Sri Ramakrishna, was ‘to serve Jiva as Shiva.’ As man is potentially divine, the service to man is indeed service to God. Instead of looking upon a needy person as an object of pity, he is looked upon as an object of worship.
Swamiji stated boldly, ‘He who sees Shiva in the poor, in the weak and in the diseased, really worships Shiva; and with him Shiva is more pleased than with the man who sees Him only in temples.’ It is with this understanding of work as a worshipful service or as a spiritual discipline (Karma yoga) that all the services and activities of the Vivek Vikas Mission are undertaken. It not only helps the person who is served but, consequently, helps the spiritual state of the person who serves too.
“The Lord is always with me. Follow me, if you will, by being perfectly unselfish, intensely sincere, and above all, by being perfectly pure, my blessings go with you. In short life there is no time for the exchange of compliments. We can compare notes and compliment each other to our hearts content only after the battle is finished. Now, do not talk; work! Work! Work!”– Sw. Vivekananda

Working on the ‘Man-making’ ideal of Swami Vivekananda, Vivek Vikas Mission will join hands to build a New India as materially, scientifically and spiritually developed as she once was.
Mission
Vivek Vikas Mission will pay back to society by offering self-advancement opportunities for quality education, capacity building, primary health care and spiritual progress to the last person in at least one village by 2030.
Core values and beliefs
At the core of our values lies the following assertion by Swami Vivekananda- “Each soul is potentially divine. The goal is to manifest this divinity within, by controlling nature, external and internal. Do this either by work, or worship, or psychic control, or philosophy- by one, or more, or all of these- and be free. This is the whole of religion. Doctrines, or dogmas, or rituals, or books, or temples, or forms, are but secondary details.”
Our priority is our students. The major share of our resources, time and energy will be directed towards this purpose. This includes:
Character– Every successful man must have tremendous integrity, tremendous sincerity, and this is the cause of his signal success in life.
Work Ethics – We work hard together as a team and take pride in all that we do.
Community participation– Students, family and community engagement is critical for our success.
Health– We have an obligation to promote overall health and well-being- physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.
To propagate the man-making,character-building education and ideals as preached and practiced by Sri Ramakrishna, the Holy Mother and Swami Vivekananda.
